SECURITY GREAT

Surprised me how useful this was once I separated the work into two passes: first ask for a neutral inventory of tabs, formulas, and suspicious outliers; then ask for the actual executive summary. The second pass was much better because it had structure to anchor on.

Same. I would not let it touch the model before I freeze the formulas and name the tabs clearly. When the workbook is messy, Claude invents relationships between tabs that are only implied.

The thing that helped me was asking it to list every assumption separately. If it cannot point to a cell range or tab name, it has to label the claim as inference.

Good for finding the story. Not enough for final numbers. I still re-check totals, hidden rows, and formulas that reference external workbooks. For my finance workflow, it saves time in memo drafting more than spreadsheet QA.

Exactly. It can summarize 47 spreadsheets, but it should not be the source of truth for 47 spreadsheets. I use it to create the checklist of what a human has to verify.

I got the best results by exporting formulas and values separately. When I only uploaded screenshots, the summary sounded confident but missed a circular reference and one tab where the dates were text strings.

The question is reliability by workflow. For spreadsheet-heavy diligence, I want a confidence map: which tabs it actually inspected, which formulas were checked, which claims came from visible data, and what needs human review.

The best review detail here is the sandbox/live split. I would trust it more in sandbox for exploration, less in live mode unless there is an audit trail and a mandatory final reconciliation step.
